Andrew Goldsworthy Part 2 - Create your own natural sculpture

This week we will go outside and make artwork from natural objects in the Andy Goldsworthy style. Experiment with leaves, flowers,stones, sticks, dirt or any natural material you have available. You can combine the different materials as well. You can make it as simple or as complex as you would like.

When you're're done  take 3 photos from from different angles pictures of your work and upload them to a new blog post.

Andrew Goldsworthy - Part 1

This week we will learn about a very interesting artist named Andy Goldsworthy.

After answering some questions about his life and work you will go outside and create your own artwork based on his style of nature art.

Goldsworthy uses nature and natural settings to create a wide range of artworks.

Here is a cool project that he created last year at the Nelson Atkins museum in Kansas City.

Drawing and Shading Review

Draw and shade the still life below. Draw it as accurately as you can.

For this drawing you must use colored pencils. 

You can use a single color, or several different colors.

Use the entire page. Cover every inch of the page with pencil. 

Make sure to add your name and block on the back.

Personal Choice - Art Project Question

If you could choose to do any any art project or artwork that you wanted to do what would it be?

You would have 3 classes to complete the project.

It could be something that we've already work on or something totally new.

If we have not learned about what you wanted to do you would have to teach yourself...but I would also help.

Drawing Zentangles

Today we will practice making Zentangles. A Zentangle is a structured pattern consisting of dots, lines, simple curves and orbs.

It is NOT a random scribble or doodle.

We will practice making at least 9 zentangles today. We will draw a grid of 9 squares and draw in pencil. Later we will choose 6 and make a zentangle cube using various sharpie markers.

The best way to learn how to do zentangling is to do a google search. There are hundreds of videos showing you how to create thousands of designs

At first do not try to make your own. After you get the hang of it you can customize some of the patterns, but for now just find ones that you like and copy them.
